Job Description: Principal Engineer (D and Above)
We are seeking a Principal Engineer to join our Business Banking Technology function within the Architecture Team. This role is central to our CIO UK organization and plays a vital part in delivering innovative, customer-centric solutions.
The Principal Engineer develops high-impact technical solutions to complex engineering challenges. They own solution design for team-level delivery, working closely with the Solution Architect. The role drives technical excellence by leading system design, enabling engineering teams, fostering collaboration, and contributing to strategic technology direction—ensuring delivery of scalable, high‑quality solutions aligned with business objectives.
Purpose of the role

To be successful as a Principal Engineer, you should have:
* Experience developing architecture frameworks, practices, and governance models.

* Deep knowledge of software architecture paradigms and designing scalable, distributed systems.

Accountabilities
