Job Description
Senior Process Engineer responsible for leading the development of process designs integral to feasibility studies, conceptual designs and early basic design packages for new facilities or retrofits. Client-facing technical role within the Global Project Development Studio.
Responsibilities
- Lead process design activities for Life Sciences, Advanced Manufacturing and Advanced Technologies projects.
- Deliver front‑end design for site master planning, feasibility and concept studies, and conduct basic/detail design stages.
- Provide engineering and technical support for complex projects, acting as the main interface with clients, discipline engineers and management.
- Develop process flow and integrated equipment diagrams to aid in the preparation of facility general arrangements.
- Provide input on technology platforms, compare options per client requirements.
- Collaborate with the architectural team to arrange and size equipment to meet client process needs.
- Capable of developing a priced equipment list.
- Capable of developing an I/O list.
- Analyze design challenges, evaluate options and recommend solutions.
- Support business development efforts to secure new projects for the PDS.
- Plan and execute process tasks per contract requirements.
- Support estimating activities and equipment pricing.
- Support the development of proposals.
- Share advanced chemical engineering practices and strategies within Fluor.
- Maintain contact with external consultants and organizations for specialized services.
- Mentor and train Fluor process engineers.
Qualifications
- Ability to communicate effectively with management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors and other stakeholders.
- Elevated technical knowledge in one or more of the manufacturing sectors served by ATLS.
- Self‑reliant, using own initiative based on prior experience in similar facility and/or process design roles.
- Analytical approach to problem solving and identifying potential solutions.
- Experience incorporating safety into process design to deliver inherently safe processes from the start.
- Assist and lead the design coordination process on projects between technical disciplines (Architectural, HVA, Building Services, Electrical, Control/Automation).
- Technical and business writing skills.
- Basic understanding of design, engineering calculation, procurement, equipment design, construction, commissioning, startup, turnover work processes, sequencing and interfaces.
- Comfortable resolving problems in complex projects or business environments.
- Willingness to travel periodically to other Fluor offices or client locations.
- Networking with industry organizations, contemporaries and clients.
- Experience leading complex process design projects for one or more industry segments served by the PDS.
- Regulatory experience.
- Experience collaborating with multi‑discipline project teams and understanding scope requirements at different project design phases.
- Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field and minimum fifteen years of work‑related experience.
- Chartered Engineer preferred.
