Join Waythrough, one of the UK’s leading mental health and social support charities, and make a lasting impact every day.
We support over 125,000 people each year through our 200 services, empowering individuals to overcome challenges around mental health, housing, and substance use.
About the Role
Our Windsor Road service is a CQC-registered residential care home offering 11 beds for people experiencing mental ill health. We provide one-to-one support and group interventions focused on personal growth, wellbeing, and independent living. Our programmes include sessions on topics such as social anxiety, confidence building, budgeting, sleep hygiene, resilience, and stress management.
We also run a range of engaging activities — from coffee mornings, community gardening, cooking, and arts and crafts to social inclusion days and family events — helping residents build connections and thrive in a supportive environment.
As a Recovery Worker, you’ll play a key role in supporting residents to develop the skills and confidence they need to live more independently and reach their personal recovery goals.
This is a rewarding and varied role where you’ll have every opportunity to make a real difference in people’s lives while working in a supportive, professional, and values-driven environment.
What You’ll Do
1. Develop and deliver person-centred support plans as part of your key worker role.
2. Support residents with daily living skills such as shopping, cleaning, and personal care where needed.
3. Deliver one-to-one sessions and group interventions around wellbeing, life skills, and mental health recovery.
4. Promote independence, inclusion, and empowerment through creative and compassionate support.
5. Liaise with external professionals and care teams, maintaining positive working relationships.
6. Ensure accurate record keeping and documentation on our information management systems.
7. Administer medication (training and qualification provided).
To Succeed in This Role, You’ll Need to be:
Caring, flexible, and creative - someone who thrives under pressure and enjoys helping others to achieve independence. You know how to connect with people at all levels and bring empathy, patience, and enthusiasm to your work.
We’re looking for someone who:
8. Has experience in mental health, social care, or care home settings (preferred but not essential)
9. Is comfortable providing personal care and daily living support when required
10. Has good communication, teamwork, and record-keeping skills
11. Is able to work both independently and collaboratively
12. Is willing to complete the Care Certificate and a medication qualification
13. Is flexible to work as part of a weekly rota, including on-call duties
14. Is available to complete sleep-in shifts (minimum one per week)
Applicants with lived experience of mental health challenges are warmly encouraged to apply.
