Salary: £60,000 – £80,000 depending on experience

Financial Controller – About our client:
An ambitious and fast-growing business based in Hertford is seeking a hands-on yet strategic Financial Controller. This is a newly created role, designed to take ownership of the finance function, provide forward-looking financial insight, and help drive the company’s growth plans. Initially, you’ll be rolling up your sleeves across all areas of finance, before building and leading a dedicated finance team.
Financial Controller – Details:
Competitive salary with performance-related bonus structure
Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 4:30pm

Financial Controller – Responsibilities:
Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts and financial statements
Develop budgets, rolling forecasts, and support strategic planning
Monitor financial performance, providing analysis and recommendations to senior leadership
Lead year-end audit and manage relationships with external auditors
Manage payroll, VAT, corporation tax, and compliance requirements
Oversee bookkeeping (initially), before building a finance team
Implement robust cash flow forecasting and reporting processes
Drive efficiency through systems, reporting improvements, and ERP/accounting integration
Act as a key business partner, supporting commercial and strategic decisions
Financial Controller – What We’re Looking For:
Proven experience as a Financial Controller or senior finance professional
Part or fully-qualified (ACCA/CIMA)
Industry knowledge of construction, project-based or manufacturing sectors is highly desirable
Strong mix of hands-on capability and strategic thinking
Experience with Xero and ERP systems is advantageous
Commercially minded, with a passion for driving business growth
