Operations Manager £45,000 - £60,000 New Build Green Energy Plant TRGroup Ltd is working in partnership with a forward-thinking organisation developing a new-build green energy plant in the Rochester, Kent area. The plant will contribute to the UK's green energy future, offering a modern, clean, and efficient operation. Position Overview This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for an experienced process operations professional to take ownership of day-to-day plant operations. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in building the on-site operations team and implementing best-in-class procedures to ensure a safe, efficient, and compliant working environment. The plant’s compact size makes this role particularly well-suited to someone looking to step into their first Operations Manager position or an experienced manager wanting a more involved and developmental leadership role. Key Responsibilities * Lead the commissioning and mobilisation of the plant operations team. * Manage all day-to-day operational activities, ensuring optimal output and compliance with HSE and environmental regulations. * Recruit, train, and manage a small team of operators and technicians. * Develop and implement SOPs, risk assessments, and permit systems. * Drive plant performance, uptime, and continuous improvement. * Liaise with maintenance teams and external contractors to ensure smooth asset performance. * Report operational KPIs and assist senior leadership with strategic input. * Take responsibility for site safety culture and operational readiness. Ideal Candidate Profile Essential Experience: * Background in Anaerobic Digestion (AD), Energy from Waste (EfW), Biomass, Power Generation, or Heavy Process industries. * Experience working as a Lead Operator, Shift Team Leader, or Operations Manager. * Leadership capabilities and the ability to develop and mentor a new team. * Understanding of permit systems, RAMS, health and safety protocols, and compliance standards. * Hands-on and proactive management style. Desirable Skills: * Previous experience in leadership position * IOSH/NEBOSH/WAMITAB or equivalent safety qualifications. * Knowledge of SCADA/PLC/DCS systems and plant monitoring tools.
