Overview
This post supports the ongoing development of the Acute Medicine service as part of East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. The Trust has been recognised for outstanding care at Conquest Hospital (Outstanding 2020) and Eastbourne District General Hospital (Good). The Acute Medicine team aims to deliver high quality service, and this appointment will help drive the development of the Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) service to enable high quality, safe care, facilitate early discharge, reduce patient length of stay, and ensure transfer of appropriate patients to sub-specialities.
Acute medicine at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust is an innovative service with a strong ethos of collaborative multidisciplinary teamwork. Our Acute Assessment Unit and SDEC are co-located near the Emergency Department, with significant investment supporting progress and development, including seven-day working.
Responsibilities
The successful applicant would work across both acute sites within the acute medical ward and SDEC, in collaboration with colleagues from the Emergency Department, Frailty and other medical specialties. The role supports candidates with a special interest or opportunities to develop one, and involves working to drive forward the development of acute medicine services and SDEC to ensure high quality, safe patient care and appropriate discharge planning.
