The Role
We're looking for a skilled Mechanical Field Service Engineer to support the reliability and performance of our water production assets across the North West.
In this hands-on role, you'll carry out planned and reactive maintenance on a wide range of mechanical equipment, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards. You'll work independently across multiple sites, diagnosing faults, installing components, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives that help protect the environment and maintain operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform planned and reactive maintenance on mechanical assets and equipment to a high standard.
* Diagnose faults and implement effective solutions to minimise downtime.
* Install, replace, and commission mechanical components in line with technical specifications.
* Accurately complete service documentation and communicate findings with internal teams and stakeholders.
* Collaborate with electrical engineers, site operators, and contractors to ensure seamless service delivery.
* Provide feedback on recurring issues and asset condition to support continuous improvement.
* Manage your own workload and travel schedule across designated sites.
Essential Skills & Experience
* Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent qualifications (minimum NVQ Level 3).
* Full UK driving licence (due to the mobile nature of the role).
* Industry experience in mechanical maintenance or engineering.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including in confined spaces.
* Willingness to diversify into specialised areas such as chlorine gas systems.
* Strong diagnostic, planning, communication, and computer skills.
