Overview
Senior Quantity Surveyor (Contract)– Location: Reading (Hybrid Working). Contract Type: Contract. Rate: Up to £400 per day (Outside/Inside IR35 subject to assessment).
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to take responsibility for the commercial management of a project based in Reading. This is a contract position offering hybrid working. The successful candidate will play a key role in cost control, procurement, risk management, and maximising commercial performance throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
* Take full ownership of the commercial management of the project
* Populate and manage monthly commercial reports, including CVR and DES
* Prepare and submit Applications for Payment (AFP) to the client
* Manage and deliver project procurement activities
* Assess and manage supply chain applications for payment
* Compile and agree final accounts with the supply chain and client
* Implement robust cost control measures and drive value engineering
* Identify, manage, and mitigate commercial and contractual risks
* Support and drive maximisation of cash flow and cash collection
* Provide accurate forecasting and financial reporting
* Manage variations, change control, and commercial correspondence
* Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and company procedures
* Work collaboratively with project teams, clients, and stakeholders
* Provide commercial advice and support to the wider project team
Requirements
* Proven experience operating as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on construction or infrastructure projects
* Strong knowledge of commercial reporting, cost management, and procurement
* Experience managing supply chain accounts and final accounts
* Solid understanding of standard forms of contract (e.g. JCT, NEC)
* Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
* Proficient in commercial and financial reporting tools
* Relevant degree or professional qualification (e.g. Quantity Surveying, RICS preferred)
