Locations
* Gledholt – a nine‑bed enhanced community residential home providing outcome‑focused care for adults with learning disability accompanied by behaviour that may challenge, including mental illness, co‑morbid substance misuse or a forensic background.
* Cygnet Adarna House – a nine‑bed rehabilitation service for men with mental illness and a secondary diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Adarna House provides a homely and community‑facing environment for individuals preparing for community life, who need further support to move towards independent living.
This role is split across both locations, with 3 days at Gledholt and 2 days at Adarna House, with occasional referral‑based input to Gledholt’s neighbouring service Gledholt Mews and Coach House.
What Does the Role Involve?
As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will deliver an evidence‑based SLT service to meet the needs of a complex client group within community rehabilitation and residential settings. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will assess, advise and intervene to promote functional communication systems and optimal independence. You will train others, promote good practice and maintain an inclusive communication environment. You will be accountable to the Director of Speech and Language Therapy and the onsite service managers, participate in visual discharge planning and adopt a humanistic approach.
Qualifications
* A strong interest in mental health and/or learning disability and autism.
* An understanding of Positive Behaviour Support with an emphasis on person‑centred approaches.
* Evidence of being a strong team player with a focus on interdisciplinary working.
* Good organisational and time‑management skills.
* Ability to work flexibly whilst remaining calm under pressure.
* Innovative, enthusiastic, motivated and passionate with a high regard for professional boundaries.
