Band 6
Woking and Sam Beare Hospice In Patient Unit islooking for a passionate dynamic and enthusiastic Band 6 Registered Nurse tojoin our incredible team.
Here at the hospice, we pride our selves on givingexceptionally high standards of care to patients and their families throughsome of the most challenging times of their lives. In our IPU, in their ownhomes and in our Wellbeing Centre. Our charity-based service specialises inpalliative and end of life care for patients with complex life limitingillnesses who live in the North-West Surrey area.
Some of the ways we provide such high standards isthrough fantastic staff to patient ratios that leave our patients and familiesfeeling like they are always a priority. As well as our environment which isclean, warm and homely to ensure all that come through our services feel safeand comfortable.
In addition to the wonderful environment, we have akeen focus on education and development. Our education team support excellenttraining sessions taught by our in-house experts. Furthermore, our staff areencouraged and supported to increase their professional skills through coursesand university modules.
Main duties of the job
A successfulPalliative Care Senior Staff Nurse will be:
* Key member of the multi-disciplinary team.
* Have excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills are essential.To utilise your advanced nursing skills and knowledge
* Experience of palliative care is desirable; it is not essential as we can offer support through our training and development programme.
* A compassionate nurse who will play a key role in planning, implementing, and evaluating evidence based individualised nursing care.
* You will also possess excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills and be able to lead and motivate others.
* An ability to teach and support junior members of the team
* You will take charge on shift and ensure effective working amongst the team
* Supporting complex patients with their medical, social and psychological needs
* Engage in the development of the ward
* Focus on improving care and ensuring best practice at all times
* Managing a team of junior nurses and health care assistance
* Project management

To provide a high standard of individualised patientcentred care to patients with a life limiting illness and to provide care andsupport for relatives and carers on the Inpatient Unit.
To assist in the management and organisation of the nursingservice including the teaching of junior staff and students.
Person Specification
Skills/Abilities
* Demonstrates a high standard of patient care and works in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Conduct and Practice
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Excellent problem solving skills and ability to work with others to produce workable solutions
* Ability to balance conflicting priorities and manage a challenging workload in a calm and professional manner
* Good interpersonal skills and the ability to manage demanding and sensitive situations.
* Advanced IT skills
* Evidence of introducing change and innovation into nursing practice.
Qualifications
* Current NMC Registration
* RN educated to Diploma or Degree level
* Evidence of recent professional updating and relevant personal development
Experience
* Relevant clinical experience
* Relevant experience of working as part of a team and self-directed.
* Demonstrates professional awareness and knowledge.
* Placement or post qualification experience in a palliative care setting
Knowledge
* Able to demonstrate sound clinical knowledge with an ability to link this to the specialty of palliative care.
* Able to demonstrate professional awareness and knowledge.
* Extended clinical knowledge and skills
