The role
Year 6 can feel like a big year. SATs, growing independence, new routines, and the exciting leap to secondary school are all on the horizon. For some children, having the right person by their side can make all the difference. We’re working with a warm and inclusive primary school in Longwell Green that believes every child should feel valued, supported, and inspired to learn. The school places kindness, respect, and care at the heart of everything it does, creating a nurturing environment where children are encouraged to thrive both academically and personally. They’re looking for a Flexible Learning Partner to provide dedicated 1:1 support within a Year 6 classroom, helping a pupil with complex SEND needs navigate this important stage of their school journey. This is a role for someone who understands that progress isn’t always measured in worksheets completed. We’re looking for someone who: • Has previous SEND experience within a school or similar setting • Feels confident supporting pupils with complex additional needs • Is calm, patient, and adaptable when challenges arise • Builds strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff • Believes in encouraging children to be ready, respectful, and caring every day • Is reliable, proactive, and ready to start ASAP Due to the location of the school in Longwell Green (BS30), driving is preferred. However, the school can also be accessed via local bus routes and nearby transport links. Essential requirements: • Enhanced child-only DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one • References covering the last 24 months • Right to work in the UK • Overseas police checks required for any overseas stays longer than 3 months within the past 5 years • Unfortunately, sponsorship is not available for this role Why work with Protocol Education? • Weekly PAYE pay, no umbrella companies • FREE access to our online CPD Academy • Ongoing support from a dedicated consultant • Opportunities to grow your SEND experience and training • Roles where your support can genuinely shape a child’s confidence and future You’re the calm voice, the encouraging smile, and the steady support that can help a child flourish during one of the most important years of primary school.
