Location: Hybrid remote in Pontypridd (Wrexham or Llys Cadwyn is noted as part of the role).
Role responsibilities
The Senior Project Manager will be accountable for the management and delivery of several multi-million-pound projects as part of the TfW Infrastructure Programme across the Wales and Borders network. Projects will be focused on station and depot infrastructure. You will drive innovation, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement throughout the programme lifecycle, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards.
* Line management and development of Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers and Project Support Officer.
* Influencing, motivating and managing project teams across the organisation, including working with support functions and Business Partners.
* Provide strategic oversight of project progress against key milestones and delivery dates by monitoring project trackers, proactively identifying and mitigating risks, coordinating cross-functional teams, and delivering timely updates to internal and external stakeholders.
* Plan and drive completion of all project deliverables including the business case, safety validation, regulatory requirements, project roadmap, budget, implementation, and handover into business as usual.
* Ensure projects are delivered within agreed parameters (scope/specification, safety, timescale, cost and quality) and represent TfW’s interests in respect of Stations Improvement Programme.
* Ensure design and delivery meet operational requirements and are customer-focused.
Who we’re looking for
* Demonstrable experience delivering large, complex railway projects across stations, depot and rolling stock infrastructure.
* Project management qualification (e.g., APM or PRINCE2).
* Experience with NEC contracts across the full project lifecycle; proactive risk mitigation and efficient delivery.
* Experience in leading and developing high-performance teams.
* Knowledge of railway, Health, Safety, Environmental and Equalities Act legislation.
Welsh Language Skills
Welsh language ability is not essential, but beneficial. TfW supports Welsh language development through various learning opportunities.
