Scientific Programme Manager, Clinical Genomics
Salary: £50,169.24
Location: Salford, Greater Manchester
Hybrid working: 3 days in the new Salford office, 2 days from home
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
The Scientific Programme Manager will play an important scientific role within international genomics quality assurance. You will help ensure that diagnostic laboratories across the world are producing accurate, reliable and clinically appropriate genetic test results. The organisation’s work supports clinical governance nationally and internationally, helping reduce the risk of patient harm and raising standards in diagnostic genomics. Key responsibilities
* Delivering high-quality ISO 17043 accredited genomics-based EQA services
* Managing the logistical delivery of specialist EQA schemes
* Supporting the planning and implementation of EQA scheme activity
* Reviewing and interpreting complex genomic testing data
* Preparing and reviewing scientific reports, commentaries and guidance
* Supporting ISO 17043 accreditation and UKAS quality standards
* Advising laboratories and stakeholders on EQA performance and genomic testing issues
* Contributing to research, publications, audits and best practice guidance
* Working with national and international scientific groups
* Supporting quality management activity, including audit, risk management and continuous improvement
About you
* Background in clinical genomics, molecular diagnostics, hereditary genetics, molecular pathology, EQA or a closely related laboratory medicine environment
* Strong scientific knowledge of genomics and diagnostic testing
* Experience interpreting complex laboratory or genomic data
* Experience in EQA, quality assurance, audit, accreditation or regulated laboratory practice
* Confidence communicating with scientists, clinicians, laboratories and external stakeholders
* Project management experience, ideally involving scientific or clinical services
* Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
* Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with a wider scientific team
* Commitment to high standards, continuous improvement and scientific accuracy
* Relevant degree essential; a master's, equivalent experience, professional registration, publications and/or experience in genetic testing, molecular diagnostics or EQA beneficial
