We’re working with a highly respected law firm with offices across the North West, recruiting a Legal Secretary to join their busy Commercial Dispute Resolution team. Based in their Preston office, you’ll provide critical administrative and secretarial support to fee earners working on a range of complex dispute resolution matters. Responsibilities include:
* Administer department files, including matter opening, client care letters, closing, archiving, and data updates
* Ensure file compliance with regulatory standards and internal office procedures
* Track critical dates, prompt fee earners where needed, and maintain accurate records
* Manage billing processes, aged debt, and coordinate with the Finance team
* Review file ledgers and prepare posting slips for incoming/outgoing payments
* Assist with the preparation of court bundles in accordance with CPR requirements
* Type dictations (via Bighand or similar) and issue correspondence under instruction
* Attend meetings and take minutes when required
* Draft legal documents and court forms under supervision
* Coordinate meetings for fee earners, including room bookings and preparation of materials
* Handle incoming calls for the team and liaise with clients on routine queries
* Support with new client enquiries and engage with individuals on work experience
* Train new junior staff members when requested
* Liaise with external contacts such as barristers, experts, and third-party referrers
What we need from you:
* Previous experience as a Legal Secretary, Legal Assistant, PA, or Administrator within a law firm
* Ability to commute to the office in Preston 4 days per week
