Adecco is proud to be working in partnership with Swindon Borough Council to recruit a range of roles across Housing and Corporate Repairs, including:
Compliance Lead - Gas
Salary: £51,356 | Level: CFL10
Join Swindon Borough Council at a pivotal moment in our transformation journey. Swindon is an ambitious, fast‑growing borough, and we are committed to delivering safe, compliant and high‑quality homes for our tenants. Backed by major investment, strengthened leadership and a clear mandate for improvement, this is an opportunity to play a critical role in shaping a modern service with real impact.
Background
Swindon Borough Council is delivering a significant improvement and transformation programme. Following a C3 regulatory judgement, we took decisive action and are investing £250 million over the next five years to improve safety, compliance, stock condition and tenant experience. As part of this journey we are investing in our teams and ensuring that new structures are in place to fully realise the improvements planned and required.
Gas safety is a core pillar of this programme, with renewed focus on assurance, contractor performance and data led oversight.
Your New Role
As Compliance Lead - Gas, you will lead the delivery of gas safety compliance across the Council's housing and corporate assets.
Reporting to the Service Manager, you will act as the Council's subject matter expert for gas safety, taking ownership of day-to-day compliance delivery and ensuring statutory obligations are met consistently and effectively.
You will lead planned inspection, servicing and remedial programmes, manage external contractors, monitor performance and maintain clear oversight of compliance records and certification. Alongside operational delivery, you will support service improvement, forward planning and investigations, embedding a strong culture of safety, accountability and professional assurance.
What You'll Need to Succeed
You will have strong experience managing gas safety compliance within a social housing or local authority setting and hold relevant ACS gas qualifications. You will understand statutory gas safety requirements and have experience managing compliance programmes and contractor performance.
Confidence using compliance data, providing technical guidance and making sound decisions is essential. A recognised health and safety qualification is desirable.
What You'll Get in Return
We offer:
Competitive local government pay and benefits
Membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme
Professional development and career progression
The opportunity to make a visible, meaningful impact on resident safety
