The Clinical Scientist post within Clinical Biochemistry provides a specialist scientific and diagnostic service supporting patient care across Somerset. Working as part of a multidisciplinary laboratory and clinical team, the post holder delivers and develops complex biochemical investigations, ensures the accuracy and clinical validity of results, and provides expert interpretive and advisory support to clinicians in both hospital and community settings. The role requires a high level of professional autonomy, technical expertise and analytical skill, alongside close collaboration with Consultant Clinical Scientists. The post holder contributes to the Duty Officer rota, supports service continuity, and plays an active role in quality assurance, clinical governance, audit, research and service improvement.
