Are you a passionate and adaptable SEND Teaching Assistant looking for flexible opportunities where you can make a meaningful difference?
We are currently recruiting SEND Teaching Assistants to support pupils across Norwich and the surrounding areas in a range of school settings. These flexible short-term and long-term opportunities are ideal for individuals who enjoy variety in their role while making a positive impact on pupils' educational experiences.
You will play a key role in supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them access learning, build confidence, and achieve positive outcomes through tailored support.
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities may include:
- Providing one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEND
- Assisting teachers in delivering adapted, differentiated, and accessible learning activities
- Supporting the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and personalised learning strategies
- Assisting pupils with a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, SEMH, MLD, speech and language needs, sensory, cognitive, physical, and communication difficulties
- Promoting a calm, inclusive, and supportive learning environment where pupils can thrive
- Supporting personal care needs where required, while maintaining dignity and wellbeing
- Monitoring pupil progress and sharing updates with teaching staff and wider support teams
- Contributing to classroom routines and wider school life during longer-term placements
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEND
- Knowledge of strategies to support pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, MLD, speech and language needs, or additional learning difficulties
- A calm, patient, and nurturing approach to supporting young people
- Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to establish trust with pupils and colleagues
- Confidence using positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
- Adaptability across different classrooms, settings, and key stages
- A proactive, professional, and reliable approach
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
