Transport UK Group - West Midlands Trains: Fleet Transformation Manager
West Midlands Trains, part of the Transport UK Group, operates approximately 1,300 train journeys daily, serving over 60 million passengers annually across our brands - West Midlands Railway and London Northwestern Railway.
We are dedicated to providing a safe and reliable train service through investments in our fleet, stations, and staff. We are seeking a Fleet Transformation Manager for a full-time, permanent role based in Birmingham, with regular travel across all depots.
Role Responsibilities
* Optimize fleet operations to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
* Ensure all fleet activities comply with industry regulations.
* Lead end-to-end delivery of strategic transformation projects aligned with the ‘Fleet Production’ vision and strategic goals.
* Develop and implement change management strategies to promote adoption and minimize resistance.
* Engage with stakeholders, including fleet representatives and other departments, to ensure project success.
* Identify inefficiencies, propose solutions with business case justifications, and implement process improvements.
* Support the adoption of new technologies, ensuring seamless integration and end-user involvement.
* Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks impacting project success.
* Define KPIs, monitor progress, and report on outcomes related to sustainability, efficiency, ROI, and user feedback.
* Utilize data analysis to identify areas for improvement.
* Collaborate with the Business Excellence Team to systematically close the ‘Standard Gap’.
* Create a ‘Control Plan’ to monitor project sustainability and changes.
* Assist in developing and implementing the Fleet Sustainability strategy.
Skills and Experience
* Bachelor’s degree in Business, Project Management, Change Management, or related field (MBA preferred).
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience in project management, business transformation, or change leadership roles.
* Preferred qualifications include PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, or Prosci Change Management certifications.
* Proficiency in project management tools such as Jira, Trello, MS Project.
* Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
* Industry experience in the rail sector or understanding of other industries is advantageous.
Salary and Benefits
* Up to £60,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits.
