VACANCY NOTICE December 17, 2025 The British Virgin Islands Airports Authority is desirous of filling the vacant post of Air Traffic Control Officer (ATCO I) and invite suitably qualified employees to apply. Key Responsibilities : Develop and maintain air traffic protocols to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with international aviation standards. Implement measures to enhance the safety and flow of air traffic within the control zone. Recommend updates to procedures and equipment based on technological advancements and operational needs. Provide and maintain minimum separation standards between aircraft and vehicles on the ground and in the air traffic circuit. Manage air traffic flow for the Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport, as well as other aerodromes and helipads in the Territory. Record and disseminate meteorological information, including SYNOP, METAR, and SPECI reports. Respond to emergencies by alerting Rescue and Fire Fighting Services and coordinating with relevant agencies. Inspect and monitor the condition of runways, taxiways, lighting systems, and perimeter fencing for damage or obstructions. Coordinate with San Juan Approach for inbound and outbound flights as required. Train, mentor, and supervise Air Traffic Control Trainees, ensuring they adhere to established protocols. Guide junior staff in maintaining logs and performing operational duties accurately. Conduct briefings and provide ongoing support to ensure staff are well-prepared for their roles. Prepare and submit operational logs, weather data, and incident reports to the Air Traffic Services Manager. Write detailed reports on aircraft accidents, incidents, or hazardous occurrences, including recommendations for corrective actions. Maintain and update records of airfield inspections, equipment functionality, and significant occurrences. Qualifications: High School Diploma with science subjects. Entry-Level Technician Certificate (Meteorological Observer). Valid ATC License with Aerodrome/Approach Control Certification.
