Location: Farnworth, Bolton | Role: 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant (Autism Support) | Start Date: ASAP / Ongoing | Pay: £16 an hour / £104 a day
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Farnworth, Bolton, supporting a child with Autism (ASD) on a 1:1 basis. This rewarding role is ideal for someone who is patient, nurturing, and confident in managing challenging behaviour in a positive and inclusive way.
About the Role
You will be providing individualised support to a verbal child with Autism, helping them to access the curriculum and develop both academically and socially. The child can display challenging behaviours at times, so an understanding and consistent approach to behaviour management is essential. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider school staff to create a supportive, structured, and engaging learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver tailored 1:1 support to a child with Autism within a mainstream classroom setting
* Use effective behaviour management strategies to promote positive choices and emotional regulation
* Implement structured routines and activities to support focus and engagement
* Encourage social interaction, communication, and independence throughout the school day
* Liaise regularly with teachers, SEN staff, and parents to ensure a consistent approach to support
* Contribute to a nurturing and inclusive school ethos where every child is valued and encouraged to succeed
Requirements
* Experience supporting children with Autism (ASD) in a school or childcare setting
* Understanding of challenging behaviour and effective, positive behaviour management techniques
* A calm, patient, and empathetic nature
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a supportive team
* Relevant TA qualification (Level 2 or Level 3) or equivalent experience
