We are looking for a hard-working, driven individual to join our team as a Trainee Surveyor. This is an opportunity for someone who is looking to develop their knowledge and understanding of the construction industry by learning from and working with fully-trained and experienced individuals.
Stoic Roofing is a fast-paced, professional and growing company that has already seen great success since its beginning in 2018, and we are looking for someone who is self-motivated and keen to learn to expand our team.
Our offices are based in Olney, Buckinghamshire and our roofing projects are carried out on sites across the UK.
As a Trainee Surveyor, you will be guided by our current estimating manager at Stoic Roofing with their support and mentoring during your training. You will learn to review roofing tender packages, survey both pitched and flat roof areas, liaise with sub-contractors and put together comprehensive bids.
Duties
* Review Tender Packages: When receiving a new tender, you will need to be able to review the package and understand the project requirements which include but are not limited to: understanding the specification for the roofing works and getting the best prices for materials, access facilities and subcontractor works which may be required.
* Site Survey: You will attend a site and conduct full measured surveys so you can ascertain the nature of the roofing works required. Our sites range from domestic properties for private clients to large office buildings for local authorities.
* Preparing the Bid: You will be required to complete take-offs and put together comprehensive estimates for the roofing and associated works. You will need to: Understand the roofing specification and get the best prices; Understand the different phases of roofing work required; Complete pre-qualification questionnaires; Create subcontractor packages for specialist works and get the best prices; Meet client submission deadlines.
* Monitoring: You will be required to monitor and track projects which have been priced, getting updates from the client about our progress.
* Time management: You will learn to plan and continually forecast your time, keeping the team informed and being as clear as possible while maintaining deadlines
Skills
* No previous construction experience needed
* Current and valid UK Driving License
* GCSE in Mathematics and English grade C or above
* Competency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Good organisational and time-management skills
* Professional attitude and approach to work
