Consultant secretary

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Medical Secretary to join our gynaecology team at UHD.
The post holder must be IT literate and ideally familiar with hospital computer systems including eCamis, EPR, and Soliton. Previous secretary experience is essential.
Required qualities include: efficient, a capable communicator, have audio typing experience, be a team player, organised, have the ability to prioritise own workload, maintain discretion and be able to work in a busy environment.
Main duties of the job
- To provide a high standard medical secretarial and administrativesupport to Women's Health Consultants and their teams, includingmanaging electronic diary of appointments, word processing, filing,audiotyping, photocopying and composition of letters, booking clinicalappointments.- To deal with complex routine and non-routine queries from patients,visitors, clinicians and other internal or external parties.- To receive and communicate difficult sensitive and confidentialinformation, using tact and persuasion skills whilst communicating withanxious/distraught patients and relatives often with language andcommunication difficulties.- To prepare appropriate responses and requests for Consultants andmedical staff.- To be a focal point of contact for Gynaecology queries via email, phoneand in person.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* NVQ level 3 in a relevant subject or equivalent level of qualification or significant previous proven experiecec
* GCSE Maths & English - C grade and above
* ECDL Level 3 or equivalent
Experience
* Demonstrable experience in dealing with the public and dealing with sensitive and confidential information
* Previous NHS experience
Knowledge & Skills
* Good Knowledge of IT systems including Microsoft Packages
* Audio & Touch Typing
* Good Knowledge of Hospital Systems - EPR, Ecamis, Soliton
Technical Skills
* Excellent Communication and interpersonal skills, including proactive and sensitive approach
* Ability to produce error free and well-presented material demonstrating high level of accuracy and fine attention to detail
* Good time management, prioritising and organisational skills including ability to work to tight deadlines
