Job summary
The Community Nursing Service in the Penwith area, based at Hayle, is offering a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Community Health Care Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate must demonstrate a passion for delivering nursing care to adults in their own homes, including those approaching end-of-life. Responsibilities include planned nursing care such as wound care, venepuncture, catheter care, pressure area care, and personal care for end-of-life patients.
We promote integrated working to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Previous care experience is preferred; however, on-the-job training will be provided. The trust is committed to personal development within Community Nursing, offering many opportunities for growth.
Due to the nature of the role, applicants must be able to travel independently daily to and from the base, patients' homes, and other locations within the area.
Mileage is paid at Agenda for Change rates, and travel time between visits is included in your shift. The service operates from 8am to 10pm, 7 days a week, with 7.5-hour shifts.
The role is developmental, initially starting at Band 2 with potential to progress to Band 3.
Main duties of the job
1. Carry out assigned tasks independently, providing direct care to patients and support to carers in collaboration with the registered nurse.
2. Work as part of the community nursing team within a designated geographical area, operating on a flexible rota covering 8am to 10pm, including on-call duties.
3. Provide high-quality, compassionate care to promote recovery while maintaining safety, and contribute to service and practice development.
