As a Black Success Manager, you will play a critical role in driving our efforts to empower and support Black students across the institution. You will oversee a comprehensive portfolio of activities designed to enhance the university experience for Black students, bringing together initiatives such as self-development courses, alumni mentoring (Black Industry Connections and Empowerment Programme, BICEP), and student groups/networks (e.g., Black Sport Collective, BSC) under a unified programme.

You will be excited about working with and understanding Black students, embracing a diverse community.

You effectively influence, step up to challenge the status quo, and develop equitable, inclusive networks. You will have experience drafting reports, hosting events, attracting Black students, effective promotion and marketing, and undertaking evaluation. You will also be confident in your IT skills.

You'll be compassionate, conscious of managing issues with sensitivity and handling information confidentially. You are committed to lifelong learning, and you will have Level 3 educational qualifications (such as Access to HE, BTEC, or A-levels) or equivalent qualifications or relevant experience.

Your focus will be on our black-white awarding gap, working with our Black student community. You will work alongside our diverse and talented team of managers, and a range of key partners across the institution and beyond, for example: University of Nottingham Sport and Campaign and Alumni Relations Office.

You will work on various projects and change initiatives, utilising appropriate tools to manage workload effectively and plan delivery. You'll be crucial in delivering our Access and Participation Plan (APP) ambitions, including monitoring progress, implementing actions, developing our future work, and fostering a more diverse, inclusive, and equitable culture.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our Black students and make a real difference

We are looking for someone passionate about the power of our Black students, committed to student equity, and curious about challenging themselves and others to grow in a more inclusive university.

One more thing…

We know that marginalised groups often won't apply for something unless they meet 100% of the criteria, but we want people to bring different perspectives, experiences, and knowledge to our team.

If you don't tick all the boxes, you might be underselling yourself. We hope you'll give yourself a break and give us a chance. You never know what might happen.
