Are you an experienced and qualified electrical craftsperson ready to make a difference in a healthcare setting? Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a proactive and highly skilled individual to join our dynamic Estates & Facilities team.
This role offers a Recruitment and Retention Payment of £3500 per year.
Core hours are 8am-4pm Monday-Friday. There will be a 1 in 6 on call requirement (4pm-8pm Monday-Friday, and Saturday and Sunday 48 hours).
Main duties of the job
As a Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Craftsperson with an electrical bias, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining a safe and efficient environment for patients, staff and visitors. You’ll be responsible for planned preventative maintenance, defect response and emergency repairs across a wide range of hospital systems and infrastructure.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Perform electrical maintenance and repair in compliance with BS7671 and NHS HTM standards.
* Support multi‑trade maintenance tasks including minor improvements and capital works.
* Participate in an out‑of‑hours on‑call rota to respond to urgent maintenance issues.
* Carry out inspections and commissioning tests, providing a reliable audit trail.
* Operate the Building Management System (BMS) to monitor and control energy usage and equipment.
* Liaise with contractors, manage safety risks and ensure statutory compliance across all tasks.

Qualifications
* Completed time‑served recognised apprenticeship.
* Completion of a structured training programme in electrical engineering.
