Management Accountant - Basildon - £50,000 - £55,000 + Benefits DOE | Hybrid Working
Are you a finance professional with a knack for both numbers and narrative — someone who enjoys digging into the detail but also translating it into meaningful business insight?
Our client is an established and growing business, looking for a capable and versatile Management Accountant to join its finance team. In this newly developed role, you’ll become a key player in delivering financial oversight, key decision support information and play a key role in supposrting non finance leaders across the businesses UK operations.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll be responsible for a broad range of financial activities, from monthly reporting to supporting commercial decisions. Working closely with site management and reporting into the senior finance lead, your responsibilities will include:
Producing monthly management accounts, financial reporting, balance sheet reviews, and commentary
Managing day-to-day cash flow forecasts and supplier payment runs
Running monthly payroll
Tracking operational performance including product costing, margin analysis, and cost centre reporting
Maintaining financial records and posting journals to ensure accurate data across the ledger
Preparing tax submissions, including VAT reconciliations
Driving the forecasting & budgeting processes
Coordinating with auditors and contributing to the year-end financial close process
Acting as a finance liaison to non-financial teams, offering data-led insight and practical recommendations
Supporting internal improvement projects and helping to optimise financial systems and processesWho You Are
We’re looking for someone curious, confident, and collaborative — a professional who enjoys taking ownership while also working across teams.
You will likely have:
A professional accounting qualification (or be working towards one), such as CIMA, ACCA or ACA
A solid grounding in financial operations, including month-end close, reconciliations, and reporting
Strong working knowledge of Excel and experience with accounting systems or ERP platforms
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines
A proactive and improvement-oriented mindset — keen to streamline and evolve processes
Experience in a product-based business such as manufacturing, distribution, or supply chain is helpful but not essential
Comfortable collaborating remotely with wider teams and stakeholders
