Bury Council has a new permanent position available for a Social Worker within the Adults Safeguarding Team to work full time based in Bury, Greater Manchester.

Location: Bury, Greater Manchester

Working Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week

Contract: Permanent

Main Duties as a Social Worker:

* Service Provision: Deliver professional social work services to adult clients within Adult Operations and/or Mental Health Services as needed.
* Empowerment: Support clients in maintaining autonomy and making informed decisions about their lives.
* Case Management: Handle a complex caseload, demonstrating advanced and effective social work practices. Assess and manage significant risks, balancing support with control to ensure client safety.
* Meeting Leadership: Chair various meetings, such as Best Interests and Discharge Planning. Provide expert input at case conferences and produce high-quality assessments and reports.
* Mentorship: Exemplify best social work practices and assume responsibility for mentoring newly qualified social workers. Offer guidance and support to junior staff with managerial oversight
* Safeguarding Commitment: Uphold Bury Council’s commitment to safeguarding children, young people, and vulnerable adults, ensuring their protection from harm.
* Competency Demonstration: Show proficiency in the Professional Capabilities Framework (PCF) and Knowledge and Skills Statements (KSS) competencies relevant to this social work role.

Key Requirements for this role:

* Must possess a recognised social work qualification
* Registered with Social Work England
* Strong understanding of health and social care legislation, guidance, and policy.
* Effective verbal and written communication skills, able to convey complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
* Proficient in liaising with families, carers, and multidisciplinary teams.
* Competence in maintaining accurate records and using IT systems.
