Maintenance Operative
Location: This post is based at Horizon's Livingston office, with travel required throughout Horizon's geographical stock.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic Maintenance Operative to join our Asset Management team to deliver a high quality service to Horizon's tenants, owners and shared owners.
The Maintenance Operative will, as part of the in-house maintenance team, contribute towards the delivery of a high-quality reactive repairs and maintenance service to the tenants and customers of Horizon by undertaking general trades repair work, tasks such as minor joiner and plumbing repairs as well as external works such as fencing and slab laying.
This role is pivotal in delivering a multi-skill maintenance service in both void and tenanted properties. The successful candidate will be capable of working on their own initiative and to a high standard of workmanship in a variety of general maintenance tasks.
The post holder will need to prioritise their workload to achieve scheduled works within timescale and to a high quality. Access to a van will be provided.
About You
You will have a good general standard of education with a desirable Trade qualifications/ City and Guilds Qualification/NVQ, combined with relevant experience in all aspects of working in occupied properties.
The successful candidate will have the ability to carry out multi trade minor repairs such as joinery, plumbing, landscaping and tiling, with good experience of cost control related to materials for jobs. You will be able to demonstrate your understanding of the building industry, including knowledge of materials, construction methods and sound knowledge and awareness of relevant Health and Safety requirements and an understanding of legislation and how both impact on work and customer needs.
You will have a commitment to deliver quality and continuous improvement to meet customer expectations, proven experience of providing excellent customer care, the ability to work with minimum supervision, essentially as a lone worker and as part of a team. Excellent planning, organising and communication skills plus a full UK Driving Licence are also essential.
