Parkway MedicalGroup has an exciting opportunity for a Salaried GP to join our friendly andforward thinking GP practice. The post is for 6 sessions per week, ideally working Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays however working pattern can be negotiated.
This is anexcellent opportunity to join a well respected, enthusiastic practice in apopular suburban area of Newcastle.
We are a teaching practice and there is opportunity for involvement with teaching should the applicant wish.
Main duties of the job
Undertakes face to face appointments, telephone calls,home visits, checking and signing of repeat prescriptions and dealing withqueries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion as required.
Screens patients for diseaserisk factors and early signs of illness.

Job responsibilities
Making professionallyautonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whetherself-referred or referred internally within the Practice.
Receives patients withundifferentiated and undiagnosed problems and makes assessment of theirhealth care needs.
Consults with patients inthe surgery, at home visits and via telephone or on-line mechanisms asagreed between the practice GPs.
Undertakes telephone calls,home visits, checking and signing of repeat prescriptions and dealing withqueries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion as required.
Screens patients for diseaserisk factors and early signs of illness.
In consultation withpatients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols,develops care plans for health.
Provides counselling andhealth education as necessary.
Admits or dischargespatients and refers them to other care providers internally and externally asappropriate and in line with practice protocols.
Complies with all relevantclinical governance and Practice polices and protocols.
Assists in the establishmentof appropriate systems to manage common chronic medical conditions.
Completes clinically relatedadministrative and non-clinical duties needed for the delivery of theservice.
Records clear and contemporaneousconsultation notes to agreed standards.
Demonstrates commitment tolifelong learning, and audit and effectiveness to ensure evidence based bestpractice.
Provides active input to thewider Primary healthcare team in the process of health needs research/baseline data collection/clinical audit.
Compiles and issuescomputer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions, prescribing in accordancewith the Practice/ CCG prescribing formulary whenever this is clinicallyappropriate.
Meets professional learningand CPD requirements.
Develops effectiverelationships with other colleagues.
