Job Description:
Manpower is currently seeking 2 interim Laboratory Technicians to work with our global FMCG client Unilever, renowned for brands such as Dove, Sure, Persil, and Simple. Join their fast-paced FMCG environment.
This full-time temporary role is based at the client’s scientific Research & Development facility in Port Sunlight Village, Wirral. It runs for 6 months, requiring 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Compensation ranges between £24,700 - £27,445 per annum, pro rata, depending on experience.
The role involves providing technical and laboratory support to accurately formulate to a given recipe, working within a team that collaborates across all Unilever Business Groups globally, alongside fragrance R&D teams. Attention to detail is essential as the task is repetitive but requires high accuracy.
You will work proactively and independently in a multi-functional, multi-cultural environment, adhering to procedures and health and safety guidelines.
Key responsibilities include:
* Accurately weigh materials according to recipe and order of addition
* Record all laboratory work meticulously, including labelling
* Handle and store raw materials safely
* Coordinate with the laboratory team and raw material assistant manager on stock levels and requirements
* Maintain cleanliness and calibration of equipment
* Follow safety and lab management procedures (Risk Assessment, Health & Safety, Standard Procedures)
* Update project team on challenges and timeline changes
Key skills required:
* Practical experience in laboratory sample preparation with a focus on safety and procedure
* Interest in fragrances; background in perfumery, chemistry, or formulation is advantageous
* Strong teamwork skills and ability to work independently
* Awareness of safety protocols, SOPs, risk assessments, and CoSHH regulations
* Highly motivated, numerate, detail-oriented, and interested in products and fragrances
* Clear communication skills regarding deadlines and challenges
* Digital literacy
* Ability to remain calm under changing priorities
