Warehouse Shift Supervisor
Location - Denton, Manchester, M34 3UL
Employment Type – Permanent, Full Time, 37.5 Hours per week, Monday - Friday, 14:00-22:00
Salary £29,000 plus 17.5% shift allowance
General Description:
The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for first line leadership of warehouse operations across goods in, goods out, picking, packing, VNA, secondary operations and despatch. The role ensures safe, accurate and efficient workflow delivery in line with KPIs, service levels and cost controls.
You will lead from the floor, translate daily plans into action, and maintain operational discipline while developing people and continuously improving processes.
Key Tasks:
Operational Control
· Supervise day to day warehouse operations across assigned areas and shifts
· Ensure volume, service and accuracy targets are achieved in line with KPIs and SLAs
· Coordinate workflow across Goods In, Despatch, Picking, VNA, Secondary Ops and Carrier areas
· Oversee timely picking, packing and despatch of orders across all channels
· Ensure orders are checked, collated and released correctly prior to loading
· Manage pick notes, workflow queues and task prioritisation
· Carry out supervisor quality checks and audit sampling
· Ensure all despatch and goods movement documentation is accurate and complete
People Leadership
· Provide first line people management and supervision to warehouse teams
· Lead daily briefings and shift huddles
· Deliver structured shift handovers
· Coach, train and develop team members to improve performance and flexibility
· Conduct performance reviews and provide constructive feedback
· Address attendance, conduct and performance issues in line with company policy
· Support investigations and disciplinary processes when required
· Identify training needs and skills gaps across the team
Performance & Planning
· Monitor and manage productivity, accuracy and service metrics
· Control labour levels and flex staffing using agency resource where required
· Balance resource against workload and changing priorities
· Escalate risks to service, safety or cost in a timely manner
· Support peak planning and operational readiness
· Contribute to KPI reporting and cross shift performance reviews
Safety, Quality & Compliance
· Enforce Health and Safety standards and Safe Systems of Work
· Ensure MHE and equipment are used correctly and safely
· Maintain housekeeping and site security standards
· Challenge unsafe acts and non-compliant behaviours
· Support audits, smart audits and process compliance checks
· Ensure process adherence and challenge deviations
Continuous Improvement
· Drive continuous improvement in methods, layout, flow and controls
· Support implementation of new processes and product launches
· Provide operational feedback to managers and project teams
· Promote best practice and standardisation across shifts and sites
Hands On Support
· Provide operational cover when required, including:
o Picking and packing
o Goods in processing
o Loading and despatch
o Stock and PI activity
o QC checks

Experience & Qualifications
Essential
* Experience in a fast-paced warehouse or logistics environment
* Experience supervising or leading teams
* Good PC skills including Excel and WMS usage
Desirable
* Multi area warehouse experience (Goods In, VNA, Despatch, etc.)
* MHE licence
* ILM or leadership qualification
* Experience with WMS and scanning systems
* Cross channel or multi customer operation exposure
