The Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Planner to join the project management function where you will be responsible for building and maintaining project schedules across a range of complex engineering projects and programmes.
Working alongside Project Managers, Engineering Leads, Risk Managers, and Scrum Master, you will ensure the project schedule accurately reflects progress, resource allocations, risks, dependencies, and emerging work. Your insights will support decision-making at every level and help ensure successful delivery for high-profile defence customers.
Key Responsibilities as a Project Planner:
* Develop and maintain detailed project schedules including tasks, milestones, dependencies, and deadlines.
* Ensure schedules incorporate identified risks, mitigations, and potential impacts.
* Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineering Leads, and Scrum teams to accurately monitor task progress.
* Support short-term and long-term resource forecasting across the business.
* Dynamically update schedules to reflect changing priorities, risk events, and contract modifications.
* Monitor timelines and proactively adjust plans to maintain delivery targets.
* Provide clear, concise reporting to project stakeholders, outlining impacts and decision points.
* Serve as the planning process expert within the organisation.
* Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities within planning and scheduling processes.
Qualifications & Skills as a Project Planner:
* Strong knowledge of project management tools, particularly Microsoft Project.
* Experience planning complex, multi-disciplinary engineering or technology programmes.
* Understanding of project risk management and its impact on scheduling.
* Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
* Familiarity with Waterfall, Agile, or Hybrid delivery methodologies (desirable).
* Experience using JIRA or similar task-management software (desirable).
* Excellent communication and presentation skills.
* Collaborative team player with drive, enthusiasm, and attention to detail.
* Experience working within multi-discipline development environments.
