Financial Controller Nottinghamshire Permanent £65,000 - £70,000 We are seeking a qualified and experienced Financial Controller to join a growing mid-sized business on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a hybrid role based in Nottingham (1 day at home 4 days in the office) This newly created position, reporting directly to the HOF & will play a key role in maintaining financial integrity, overseeing reporting, controls, and day-to-day operations across the business. This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of finance in a dynamic, expanding organisation. You will lead core finance functions, work closely with the CFO & provide financial insight, ensure financial accuracy, compliance, and robust controls across the group. Managing three direct reports, you'll oversee financial reporting, tax, audit, balance sheet reconciliations, and day-to-day finance operations, while supporting senior leadership on projects and process improvements. - Monthly Reporting Timely and accurate preparation and submission of management accounts including full balance sheet reconciliations. - Production of full departmental P&L's with analysis issued to department heads each month along with provided ongoing support and guidance. - Provide support in creation of the Board reporting pack including analysis, insight and commentary. - Financial Reporting & Compliance: Oversee the preparation of monthly management accounts and statutory year-end financial statements (in compliance with UK GAAP/IFRS). - Ensure timely and accurate submission of tax returns, VAT, and other statutory filings (HMRC, Companies House). - Liaise with external auditors and manage the annual audit process. - Financial Controls & Risk Management: Maintain and enhance internal financial controls, policies, and procedures. - Monitor and manage financial risk, including cash flow, credit, and currency exposure. - Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and financial regulations. Ownership of all Finance related systems including the main ERP, Purchase Order, Expenses etc. Key Skills and Competencies - Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS. - Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. - High attention to detail and accuracy. - Strong leadership and team management capabilities. - Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. - Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with accounting systems (e.g., Sage, Xero, SAP, Oracle). Qualifications and Experience - ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified. - Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience, including experience in a senior finance role. - Experience in both SMEs and larger organisations is beneficial including experience of working in an international organisation. - Previous audit experience (either in-practice or managing external audits) is desirable.
