Those appointed to this specialism are expected to drive educational excellence within the university’s teaching and learning communities. In the role of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer, ILP Coordinator, Rural you will have a passion for rural medical education, be committed to high quality teaching, and have an interest in rural health projects and research. The role focuses on developing and maintaining the Independent Learning Project (ILP) program at the campus, ensuring alignment with goals in introducing undergraduate medical students to research through supervised projects, developing self-directed learning skills and critical thinking.
The position reports to the Director of Medical Education at the identified campus with a dotted reporting line to the Clinical Director Rural, ILP and Research Collaboration, and has no direct reports.
Responsibilities (selected)
* A Fellow of a Specialist Medical College and/or a post graduate degree in a relevant field with experience working in a medical and health environment, or other equivalent degree with relevant professional experience.
* Coordinate, support and guide students studying their ILP including supervision, teaching and mentoring, reviews, thesis, presentation, coursework and final report.
* Provide support in local hospital and clinical environments for ILP and other rural research projects specific to local health priorities, including design and governance, development of research skills, and ethics applications and approval.
* Engage and collaborate with the PHN, AMS and other local health and community networks and build productive relationships and partnerships, participate in professional activities and identify and submit funding applications, where appropriate.
* Actively contribute towards the development, improvement and maintenance of the RHMT Research Plan, rural research framework, and workforce retention strategies, methodologies, data collection and analysis.
* Experience in teaching and mentoring undergraduate students and a strong demonstrated commitment to rurally focussed health and research projects.

Senior Lecturer (Level C) duties
* Provide high level coordination and administration within the program, and expert advice to students and other staff on course-related matters.
* Support and mentor students and supervisors to design research studies, write and submit ethics applications, select appropriate statistical analyses and prepare for publication of projects.
* Expertise within a relevant sub-disciplinary area, including module convenorship, and demonstrated experience in rurally based research including publications, ethics applications and grant submissions.

Remuneration and terms
* Employment Type: Part-time (14 hours a week)
* Duration: Fixed Term contract until 30 June 2026 (with possibility of renewal)
* Remuneration: Competitive remuneration based on Academic Level B or Academic Level C, plus 17% superannuation and leave loading
* Work rights: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Candidates must hold full rights to work in Australia to be considered for this position.
