Overview
Staff Java Software Engineer – Location: Belfast (Hybrid). Type: Full-time. Compensation: £80,00 - £90,000 + Bonus + Benefits
What You'll Do
* Architect and deliver secure, scalable backend systems using Java, Spring Boot, and Spring Cloud
* Lead technical direction across teams, setting patterns, tooling, and engineering standards
* Define and implement CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices
* Engineer resilient cloud-native systems (AWS or OpenShift) with a focus on performance and reliability
* Provide mentoring and technical guidance to engineers across the organisation
* Champion Agile and DevOps practices, embedding automation and quality from the ground up
* Collaborate with stakeholders and product owners to align delivery with business outcomes
What You'll Bring
* Deep Java expertise with Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices
* Proficiency with containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
* Strong cloud engineering skills (AWS preferred) including monitoring, security, and optimisation
* Experience with CI/CD, test automation, and IaC (Terraform or similar)
* Strong grounding in modern software design, architecture, and optimisation
* Database experience across SQL and NoSQL (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis)
* Excellent communicator, collaborator, and mentor with a passion for leadership
Bonus Points For
* Event-driven architectures (Kafka, RabbitMQ)
* Exposure to frontend frameworks (React, Angular)
* Experience in regulated or large-scale enterprise environments
