Senior Advanced Nurse/Clinical Practitioner
Join to apply for the Senior Advanced Nurse/Clinical Practitioner role at NHS Highland. We are currently seeking applications from experienced advanced nurse/clinical practitioners to join the Medicine for the Elderly team within Raigmore Hospital. Successful applicants will be supported to develop their career in medicine for the elderly with opportunities to join the team at Senior Advanced Nurse/Clinical Practitioner level (band 8a ± annex 21), Advanced Nurse/Clinical Practitioner (band 7).
Responsibilities
* Work alongside AHPs and existing Senior ANP within a new frailty assessment area while providing in‑reach to acute admission areas and the emergency department.
* Provide care in acute care of the elderly wards, ensuring a minimum of 80% of clinical time within Medicine for the Elderly.
* Manage patients with higher degrees of medical complexity, often without immediate face‑to‑face senior decision‑making support.
* Supervise junior medical trainees, medical students, advanced nurse practitioners, trainees and AHPs attached to the medicine for elderly team.
* Work 5 days a week (Monday‑Friday daytime hours) with possible 7‑day service models that may require evenings or weekends.
* Complete 10‑20% non‑clinical time for professional activities (SPA), including CPD, trainee supervision, teaching, quality improvement, induction, audit, research and revalidation.
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse, Paramedic, Pharmacist or Allied Health Professional with relevant experience and qualifications.
* Master’s level qualification in Advanced Practice enabling competence in clinical assessment, clinical reasoning, judgment and diagnostic decision making, anatomy and pathophysiology, non‑medical prescribing (V300), leading, delivering and evaluating care, and practice learning/transferable work‑based learning.
* Desirable: Comprehensive geriatric assessment expertise, experience in acute hospital advanced practice level, and understanding of Scottish Frailty Standards.
