The Department of Finance and Computer Science at the University of Winchester is currently seeking a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Data Analytics. The successful candidate will be joining a department whose strategy is rooted in providing an inclusive, empowering, and transformative education to our students and delivering an interdisciplinary research agenda that yields fresh and sustainable contributions with impact. We also engage with business and society to help them shape talent and flourish sustainably.
The Department of Finance and Computer Science, one of two Departments within the Faculty, hosts a range of increasingly successful UG and PG courses that are growing in student numbers.
The ideal candidate will have teaching experience in subjects including, but not limited to Computer Science, Software Engineering and Cyber Security with a particular focus on the data analytics and quantitative techniques, Programming for Data Analytics, Data Visualization & Communication, Database Systems, research and consultancy skills, Information management, Insight management, Business Analytics, strategic forecasting, data management and will have supervised dissertations at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The post-holder will be an excellent communicator and be a team-player.
The Lecturer in Data Analytics will have experience of teaching and dissertation supervision at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Experience of programme management is desirable, as is the ability to facilitate development for students at all levels in quantitative data analysis, strategic forecasting to include simulation and optimisation techniques and analysis, and data visualisation trends within business intelligence. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate an aptitude for research possessing either a doctorate in an appropriate discipline and/or a portfolio of refereed outputs.
The successful candidate will be a team player with in‐depth knowledge of data analytics and excellent communication skills. A keenness to engage fully in the development and delivery of our dynamic portfolio of Computing Science, Cyber Security, Software Engineering and relevant programmes.
An interest in, and a capacity for, applied research is desirable as well as a commitment to the successful employability of our students. Experience of module management is essential as the candidate will be responsible for module leadership of a range of modules in Computer Science.
