This role will be based on a 37.5 hour working week.
The role will be Monday to Friday but the successful candidate would need to be flexible as some weekend work would be required.

A. Job Purpose
To contribute to improving health associated with lifestyle, by supporting homeless clients, those at risk of homelessness and working migrants to develop healthier behaviours and contributing to delivery of the service aims and standards in line with national and local health priorities.
Deliver behavioural stop smoking support throughout the service area according to national and local standards and to assist in the delivery of training.
This role contributes to the achievement of the Business & Corporate Plan objectives of the Ferry Project by contributing to the provision of safe accommodation, care, and support to homeless single people at Octavia View.
Ferry Project provides 24-hour accommodation-based support for individuals with complex histories, multiple traumas, complex personality disorder(s) and a varied, disrupted housing history with experience of homelessness.
The project implements and promotes the Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE) model. This is an approach to supporting people out of homelessness, those who have experienced complex trauma or are diagnosed with a personality disorder. It also considers the psychological needs of staff: developing skills and knowledge, increasing motivation, job satisfaction and resilience.
To carry out needs and risk assessments of clients during their stay with the Ferry Project. To ensure that each client is fully supported in his/her development and progress to independence, according to his/her individual support plan and self-determined goals.
Whilst on duty to ensure the health and safety, security and well-being of clients, staff and visitors, offering loyalty with demonstrably great attitude, clear focus and perseverance and contributing knowledge and skills to the development and acquisition of new business opportunities.
B) Key Accountabilities
Service Delivery
* Accept and manage referrals (including self-referrals).
* Deliver evidence-based smoking cessation support to individuals and groups.
* Support clients in choosing the most appropriate quit-smoking pathway.
* Identify and engage clients from target groups from the local community (homeless, at risk, and working migrants).
* Carry a caseload and deliver support in various community settings, including outreach work.
* Contribute to the delivery of training and health promotion activities.
· Some out of hours work maybe required with evening or weekend groups and clinics and training as necessary
Communication
* Communicate clearly with individuals from diverse backgrounds and abilities, including those with learning difficulties or mental health needs.
* To be able to communicate potentially sensitive information to service users and other health professionals.
* Produce accurate written records of activities, work undertaken and written results.
* Provide sensitive and confidential support to clients.
* Liaise with healthcare professionals and external partners as needed.
Assessment & Planning
* Conduct needs and risk assessments for new clients.
* Develop individualised support/action plans focused on behaviour change and wellbeing.

* Assess clients' suitability for stop-smoking medications (training provided).

* Plan and prioritise own workload under the guidance of the Health, Recovery and Wellbeing Lead.

* Use carbon monoxide monitors and other health-related tools (training provided).

D) Dimensions
Scope: The Smoking Cessation Advisor will work in an operational setting, carrying a caseload of clients who require support. As part of the team, they have a shared responsibility for the efficient running of the project, including responsibility for quality, compliance and Health and Safety.
E) Additional Information
i) Context/Environment
As a member of a team of staff within Ferry Project, the Smoking Cessation Advisor shares responsibility for working with clients. As staff are usually involved in working on a rota basis, good communication between staff members is essential.
The client groups vary and may be young people, homeless older people, single homeless clients, people with a history of mental health issues or people with physical disabilities.
Due to the nature of this varied client group project staff are required to conduct themselves professionally and maintain strong boundaries between themselves and the residents at all times.
The staff member will be supervised on a regular basis and the job performance appraised annually – as part of the process, the member of staff will be expected to jointly identify training needs with their line manager.

Having the ability to gain a Level 2 in smoking cessation
Level 2 trained in Smoking Cessation
NVQ level 3 health Trainer qualification or Level 3 qualification in relevant subject or equivalent experience
Certificate/Professional qualification in a related area or
Ability to gain level 3 Health Trainer Certificate or equivalent health related qualification
Experience and knowledge
Experience of working with local community groups, health sector or voluntary sector in some capacity
