Milk Education is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic History Teacher to join a supportive and ambitious secondary school in Barnsley. This exciting opportunity involves teaching History across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering engaging lessons that inspire curiosity, develop critical thinking skills, and help students gain a deeper understanding of historical events, cultures, and their impact on the modern world.
This is a full-time position, available for an immediate start or from September 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan and deliver high-quality History lessons in line with the national curriculum
2. Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment
3. Monitor and assess student progress, adapting teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs
4. Encourage students to develop confidence, analytical skills, and a passion for History
5. Support students in developing their understanding of historical enquiry, interpretation, and source analysis
6. Work collaboratively with colleagues and wider school staff to support student achievement
7. Uphold the values and professional standards of Milk Education and our partner schools
Requirements:
8. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
9. Specialism in History, with the ability to teach KS3 and KS4
10. Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
11. Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
12. Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one through Milk Education)
