We are seeking a suitable qualified and experienced Independent Domestic Violence Advisor for a temporary contract based in Quedgeley, Gloucester.
IDVA's address the immediate safety of victims at high risk of harm from intimate partners, ex-partners or family members to secure their safety and the safety of their children. Serving as a victim’s primary point of contact, IDVAs normally work with their clients from the point of crisis to assess the level of risk, discuss the range of suitable options and develop safety plans. They are pro-active in implementing the plans, which address immediate safety, including practical steps to protect themselves and their children, as well as longer-term solutions.
We require a Duty IDVA to work from our Gloucester Office - parking is on site. Hours of work are Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm (excluding bank holidays). The successful applicant will respond to all high risk referrals on a duty basis, providing immediate safety planning and advice. The role will require multi agency working with other professionals to safeguard high risk victims and their children. Some travel across Gloucestershire to engage with high risk clients may be required on an ad-hoc basis and travel expenses will be covered for this. Understanding of statutory safeguarding procedures is essential. Comprehensive understanding of domestic abuse, the law (both criminal and civil), risk assessment and safety planning is required.
