Job Title: Construction Buyer, Procurement Location: Singlerose, St Austell Salary: £28,000 -£35,000 per year Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm Job description: Glanville Environmental, part of the Adler & Allan Group, is a leading drainage and civil engineering contractor serving the Southwest since 1983. We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Construction Buyer to join our experienced procurement team. This is a key role supporting our four depots, working closely with project teams and suppliers to ensure timely, cost-effective, and compliant procurement of materials and subcontract services for drainage and civil engineering projects. Key Responsibilities Manage and maintain the Approved Subcontractor and Supplier database, including onboarding and compliance checks Liaise with Health & Safety to complete supplier approval processes and ensure documentation (insurance/certificates) is up to date Negotiate and manage framework agreements, service level agreements (SLAs), and rebate agreements with suppliers and subcontractors Produce material purchase orders in line with procurement policies and oversee bulk stock deliveries to depots and large sites Support the Estimating team with tender prices, availability checks, and bespoke procurement for major works Source and procure drainage-specific materials (e.g. pipes, manholes, aggregates, concrete) and subcontract services from approved suppliers Issue RFQs, evaluate bids, and negotiate competitive rates, delivery terms, and payment conditions Monitor material lead times to ensure timely delivery to projects and avoid delays Track supplier performance against KPIs and maintain strong working relationships with account managers Identify cost-saving opportunities and drive improvements in procurement processes Maintain accurate procurement records in line with internal systems and procedures Stay up to date with industry trends, market conditions, and innovations in drainage and infrastructure materials What You’ll Need Strong negotiation and communication skills Knowledge of drainage construction materials and supply chains Excellent planning, organisation, and time management abilities Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data handling Commercial awareness with proven cost management skills Proficiency in procurement systems, ERP software, and Microsoft Office (especially Excel) Ability to work independently as well as part of cross-functional teams Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach Why Join Glanville Environmental: We offer a competitive and rewarding package, including: Competitive salary with opportunities for progression 28 days holiday (including bank holidays) extra for long service Holiday buy-back scheme Company pension scheme Health Cash Plan & Wellbeing Programme Discounts on gym, wellness and high-street brands Cycle to work scheme Accredited training and career development opportunities Company events, awards and recognition schemes Family-friendly policies, including enhanced maternity/paternity pay
