What you will be doing
* Oversee and support the management of the works, specifically the engineering elements, to align with Galliford Try’s safety management policies and industry standards to create a safe working environment.
* Implement the Business Management System to achieve the quality expectations of the project in line with the contract, specification and drawings, writing and reviewing PQPs and ITPs and overseeing their implementation with progressive compilation of on‑site quality inspections.
* Acquire sufficient technical knowledge of construction, engineering and other build elements to oversee and support work execution, providing information to operatives and sub‑contractors and coordinating with all parties.
* Implement the works in line with the contract programme, carrying out all tasks directed by your supervisor to the best of your ability and within agreed timescales. Input into and draft programmes for the works using Asta.
* Deliver excellence in all activities.
* Demonstrate commitment and a positive attitude towards supervisors, management, consultants and the supply chain.
* Monitor and record the progress of the project and your duties, maintaining daily diaries together with photographic evidence and records.
* Conduct material quality checks for compliance and reconciliations.
* Use, manage and calibrate all setting‑out equipment, maintaining equipment under your control. Minimum expectations are EDM and electronic levelling equipment, enabling transfer and interpretation of CAD information.
* Undertake as‑built surveys and log data.
About you
* Ability to work safely.
* Read and interpret drawings and other data formats.
* Good communication skills – verbal, written and digital.
* Confidence in setting‑out techniques.
* Highly motivated and enthusiastic with a positive attitude.
* Rapid learning and continuous improvement in everyday tasks.
* Flexibility to solve problems and find solutions.
* HNC level minimum; a degree in civil engineering preferred.
* Relevant CSCS card and SMSTS.
* Computer literate in MS Word, Excel, CAD and common data environments such as View for Projects and Field View.
* Desirable knowledge of Asta Teamplan or Power Project.
* Industry professional body membership.
* Previous experience in a similar role for a tier‑one contractor.
* Ability to work between multiple sites at any one time.
