Mechanical Maintenance Technician
Location: Maidstone, United Kingdom
Job Type: Contract (Likely to Extend) | £34.40 p/h | 12-Month Contract
Hours: Mon–Thurs 08:00–16:30, Fri 08:00–13:00 (flexible start/finish times), including a 9-day fortnight schedule.
The Opportunity
Join a multi-disciplinary maintenance team providing technical expertise across mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems. Your work will include reactive breakdown support, planned preventative maintenance, and facility upgrades, contributing to world-class engine testing and development.
Responsibilities
* Respond to equipment breakdowns, perform fault-finding and repairs.
* Maintain, repair, and install facility equipment and support systems.
* Work from mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical drawings and schematics.
* Support commissioning of new rigs, systems, and test cells.
* Lead improvement projects and root cause investigations, presenting findings to engineers and managers.
* Mentor apprentices and share knowledge within the team.
* Ensure a safe, clean, and efficient work environment following health & safety and 5S standards.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualified to at least NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent), with an apprenticeship or strong industry background. Solid knowledge of maintenance processes, tools, and equipment. Ability to interpret mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical drawings. Over 10 years of industrial maintenance experience, including apprenticeship. Specific skills include fault finding on hydraulic or fuel systems, laser alignment of rotating equipment, boiler servicing accreditation, and experience in engine testing or plant maintenance. Transferable skills from manufacturing or food industry maintenance are considered.
