The Role
In this role, you will lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of marketing and student recruitment strategies to attract high-quality home and international undergraduate and postgraduate taught students.
You’ll work closely with academic schools and central services to ensure alignment with both University-wide and School-specific priorities. You’ll also manage a small, dynamic team, delivering a consistent and effective approach to student recruitment marketing.
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (HaSS) is an exciting, multidisciplinary faculty structured around ten academic schools. The Faculty has a significant and diverse student population across its range of disciplinary areas.
You will be required to maintain a high level of knowledge and expertise in relation to the recruitment of humanities, arts and social sciences students and remain up to date with the latest marketing and communications developments, including the use of new technologies and best practice elsewhere in the sector.
Significant experience in student recruitment marketing, preferably within a higher education setting, and a proven ability to develop and deliver marketing strategies and campaigns is essential for this role. Please refer to the Job Description for all essential criteria.

Key Accountabilities
* Act as a trusted advisor to academic schools, offering expert guidance and delivering a proactive, professional service to help meet student recruitment targets.
* Collaborate with academic schools to design, implement and assess targeted marketing and recruitment strategies across all levels and markets that are aligned with Faculty and University priorities.
* Collaborate with academic staff and current students to identify subject strengths and develop compelling, consistent targeted messaging across all marketing channels.
* Plan, execute and evaluate marketing campaigns, ensuring cost-effectiveness and impact. Activities may include webinars, online chats, email campaigns, telephone campaigns, and new conversion initiatives.
* Design and manage optimised communication plans for enquirers and offer holders to enhance lead generation, engagement and conversion.
* Oversee the creation of engaging content for digital and print channels, ensuring alignment with brand guidelines, compliance with regulatory requirements, accessibility and SEO-optimisation.
* Ensure the delivery of suitable, high-quality in-person and virtual student recruitment and conversion events, including Faculty involvement in university wide events.
* Manage and develop a small team, including setting objectives, monitoring progress, identifying training needs and conducting performance reviews.
* Conduct market research to inform subject messaging, portfolio development and campaign planning, working closely with the Faculty insights teams.
* Collaborate with colleagues across the University to align strategies, share best practice, and ensure a consistent and effective approach to student recruitment marketing.
* Represent the Faculty in cross-University marketing initiatives, including participation in planning meetings, steering groups, and project workstreams.
* Represent the Faculty and University at recruitment events, coordinating with central teams to ensure integrated activity.
* Remain flexible and adaptable to evolving priorities and undertake additional duties as required in response to changes in the higher education sector.
The Person
Essential Skills and Experience
* Significant experience in student recruitment marketing, preferably within higher education.
* Proven ability to develop and deliver marketing strategies and campaigns, with the ability to evaluate performance and recommend improvements.
* Strong copywriting, editing and proofreading skills, with a focus on creating accessible and engaging digital and print content.
* Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to lead multiple projects and build effective relationships.
* Proficiency in digital marketing tools and analytics platforms, with experience of using data to evaluate marketing performance.
* Proven line management experience, with the ability to lead, support and develop staff.
* In-depth understanding of current trends and challenges in student recruitment and marketing in higher education.

* Willingness to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends during key recruitment periods, with occasional travel and overnight stays.

Qualifications
* A degree or equivalent qualification or significant vocational experience demonstrating progression through increasingly demanding roles.
* A professional marketing qualification (eg, from the Chartered Institute of Marketing) is desirable.
