Applications are invited for a Fixed Term Trust Doctor ST3 equivalent in Gynaecology based at St. Richards Hospital.
Full-time including a fixed on-call pattern covering labour ward and emergency gynaecology.
Suitable for those at ST3 level or above (i.e. Junior or Senior Middle grade) as well as for those currently in Training seeking an OOP who has some experience in gynaecological ultrasonography. Role to commence from May 2025.
Role includes opportunity for a funded postgraduate diploma PGCert (medical ultrasound).
Main duties of the job
Objectives of the post:
* Work on labour ward, ward work, attendance in clinic, theatres and covering the gynaecology emergency and early pregnancy clinics as part of daily duties. There is a registrar (second tier) on call 24 hours and a consultant present for 65 hours a week and then on call from home.

Job responsibilities
The candidates must have experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and ideally have decided on Obstetrics and Gynaecology as your preferred career. You will be committed to working as a team member providing care to our patient population. You will have an active interest in developing your personal, clinical, and special interest skills. You will be capable of managing projects both independently and under supervision. Regular supervision meetings with an experienced training Consultant will help you meet your personal objectives during your post and also help you shape your future career.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Full GMC registration with a license to practice
* MRCOG part 1
* Advanced Life Support cert from the Resuscitation Council UK
* Additional related qualifications, e.g. intercalated degree, BSc, BA, BMedSci or equivalent
Experience
* Completion of the RCOG Basic Practical Skills course in Obstetrics and Gynaecology by time of appointment. No other equivalent qualification will be accepted (this includes RCS Basic Surgical skills courses)
* Evidence of achievement of Foundation competences from a UKFPO affiliated Foundation Programme or equivalent by time of appointment in line with GMC standard/Good Medical Practice. At least 24 months experience in medicine or an ACCS programme or equivalent (not including Foundation modules)
* At least 24 months' experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (not including Foundation modules) by time of appointment
* Not have previously relinquished or been released/removed from an Obstetrics and Gynaecology programme, except under exceptional circumstances
* Not previously resigned, been removed from, or relinquished a post or programme with resultant failure to gain the award of a FACD, except under extraordinary circumstances and on the production of evidence of satisfactory outcome from appropriate remediation
* Experience in other related specialties
* Completion of formal obstetric skills/drills training course (e.g. ALSO, PROMPT) by time of appointment
* Relevant experience in other specialties which would complement a career in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
* Extracurricular activities/achievements relevant to career in Obstetrics and Gynaecology

* Experience and ability to work in multi-professional teams
* Understanding of: NHS / Clinical governance / Resource constraints
