Job Description

Please note this is a full-time, fixed-term contract starting October 2025 until October 2026. Working Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 17:00.
The purpose of the role is to support the food laboratory by providing technical and quality microbiological expertise in all areas. To ensure ownership of and improvements in existing methodologies. To research and implement new technologies to improve the service to our customers. To work with and maintain the laboratory accreditation standard of ISO 17025 and other approvals held by the laboratory.
* Support the Team Leader in respective areas on a day-to-day basis and step up when absent, ensuring compliance with requirements of ISO 17025:2017, RSA, BEIC, and relevant legislation (when required)
* Assist with day-to-day operations in the pathogen department
* Responsible for checking transfer of data relating to samples and results and issuing test reports, maintaining confidentiality of information
* Review and implement the technical performance of all aspects of the methods (from registration to final reports) regularly
* Familiarisation with accreditation requirements for UKAS, DWTS, and LCA
* Implement new methods into the lab, owning method validations and documentation prior to submission to quality for UKAS approval
* Maintain comprehensive records of all modifications and improvements within the laboratory
* Implement all technical changes effectively following audits/complaints, ensuring corrective actions are successful
* Investigate customer complaints when required and support the team with investigations and non-conforming work
* Perform audits in line with the quality system
* Represent the laboratory in external audits (regulatory/client audits)
* Complete KPIs regularly
* Ensure all methods are validated, and EQA, IQC, and DPC systems are maintained, with non-conformances investigated
* Maintain and review externally sourced method references
* Maintain measurement uncertainty for current methods
* Ensure the Environmental monitoring programme is appropriate
* Provide technical support to the Stock Controller/Team Leader when liaising with suppliers
* Support customer requirements and ensure they are reflected in the quality system
* Participate in Group Technical Forums and implement improvement opportunities
* Act as a reference point within Eurofins UK for internal testing issues
* Promote a professional image and comply with company policies, including during work-related events outside normal hours
* Read and comply with company rules, procedures, and notices.
Qualifications
* Understanding of ISO 17025, UKAS, RSA, BEIC, audit procedures, laboratory methods, and quality management systems
* Proven experience in working to and exceeding targets within the quality system
* Experience with a broad range of internal and external customers
* Competence in IT, including LIMS, spreadsheets, and databases
* Experience working in a UKAS accredited laboratory
* Excellent attention to detail
* Strong written and communication skills
* Commitment to meeting customer expectations
* Commitment to lean management principles
* Ability to develop team members
* Strong laboratory skills and techniques
* Able to present complex information face-to-face, via Teams, and email
