We’re excited to expand our CAD division with a Mechanical CAD Technician Apprentice to join our Professional Development Programme for our 2026 intake, based in Preston in United Utilities Framework.

What will you be doing?

Working within the Mechanical CAD team you will be an integral part of the delivery of many projects by providing assistance in the following:

* Working on both Clean water and Wastewater treatment projects alongside an experienced Mechanical Draughtsperson to deliver clear, accurate and constructable 2D Mechanical Engineering drawings.
* Participating and developing 3D models for construction and design reviews, with H&S at the heart of what we do, producing clean and concise engineering sketches.
* Attending insightful team meetings, providing scribing duties for safety review meetings and attending site visits.
* Assisting in the development of wide‑range equipment libraries to ensure our work reaps the efficiency benefits of design re‑use.
* Learning how to become part of the wider engineering team by working alongside other disciplines to develop your knowledge and broaden your communication skills.

What will I need to be considered?

* GCSEs for English, Mathematics and Sciences at grade 4 or above.
* Excellent computer skills – a good understanding of Microsoft Office (essential) and basic knowledge of 3D Modelling software (preferred).
* Eligible to work in the UK.
* Have the ability to travel to the office and sites (some of our sites are difficult to access through public transport).
* A driving licence would be preferred.
* Flexibility – Successful candidates will need to be flexible and willing to spend time in other offices and sites.
* Great communication skills (written and verbal).
* Self‑motivated – attitude is key, it's your career!
* A team player.
