Purpose of the role
The Collections Officer is responsible for managing delinquent customer accounts, ensuring timely recovery of overdue payments, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. This role plays a critical part in safeguarding the organisation's credit risk exposure while delivering excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
1. Account Management:
2. Proactively manage late-paying customers through telephone and written communication
3. Negotiate repayment arrangements and forbearance solutions where appropriate
4. Compliance & Regulation:
5. Operate within Consumer Credit Act (CCA) and FCA guidelines
6. Ensure all actions adhere to internal policies and regulatory requirements
7. Customer Engagement:
8. Handle sensitive conversations with empathy, balancing customer needs and business objectives
9. Provide clear explanations of terms and consequences of non-payment
10. Reporting & Administration:
11. Maintain accurate records of all interactions and agreements
12. Prepare reports on collections performance and escalate high-risk cases
13. Collaboration:
14. Work closely with Recoveries, Risk, and Client Services teams to resolve complex cases
Core Skills & Knowledge
15. Strong communication and negotiation skills

20. Knowledge of asset finance products and collections processes.
21. Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (CCA, FCA)

23. Proficiency in MS Office and collections systems
Technical knowledge
24. Regulatory Knowledge as applicable to role
25. Understanding of lease and asset finance
26. Knowledge of Consumer Credit Act and other regulatory requirements
27. AML /KYC requirements
