About the role
Envision Energy is the only 100% fully integrated OEM for utility-scale energy storage systems. We manufacture our own cells (AESC), DC storage systems, bi-directional inverters (PCS), transformers, PPC, EMS, and SCADA, connecting these components to construct power plants fueled by batteries. This supports renewable energy sources like solar and wind.
The Commercial Manager is a member of the European operations of Envision Energy, focusing on supporting all energy projects (Wind, Energy Storage and Green Hydrogen) for key accounts in Europe. This role is preferably based in the UK or France, but exceptional candidates will be considered. The position is customer-facing, with hybrid working and travel to customer locations across Europe.
The Commercial Manager analyzes and assesses customer requests for proposals and tenders, coordinating overall proposal development across the organization. The role drives the execution of optimized strategies to secure profitable business with the Key Account(s).
Key responsibilities
* Analyze and assess customer requests for proposals and tenders, considering critical indicators for the customer and business.
* Coordinate proposal development across the organization, lead virtual deal teams, collaborate with the Technical Leader, Sales Manager, and other functions (Legal, Commercial Finance, Risk Management, Project Management) to emphasize the commercial aspects of the project.
* Work with the Key Account Manager to develop the commercial strategy, identifying and capturing value optimization opportunities.
* Present the proposal to the customer and draft/negotiate equipment and services contracts in English, including all terms and supporting documents. Lead negotiations with customers and external stakeholders; drive proposals to closure.
* Make informed proposals, present summaries including commercial risk and mitigation plans to the risk review board, and obtain management approval for critical items of each transaction.
* Support the project execution team in post-contract modifications (notices, change/variation orders, etc.).
* Frequent travel within the region and occasional trips to China.
Qualifications/Requirements
* Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (Engineering, Legal).
* MBA may also be acceptable if the candidate is not an Engineer or legally trained.
* Fluent in English (speaking and writing).
* Enthusiasm for working with customers.
* Cultural sensitivity to working across time zones and cultures across Europe and Asia.
* Experience negotiating terms and conditions and driving deals to closure.
* Strong process analysis, problem-solving, and strategy development skills.
* Ability to take critical decisions under time pressure with limited or conflicting data.
* Willingness and ability to travel and work intensively during negotiation periods.
* Excellent communication skills and confidence with executive-level presentations.
* Demonstrated teamwork and leadership skills in virtual project teams.
* Ability to manage multiple complex activities simultaneously.
* Attention to detail while keeping the bigger picture in mind.
