Main duties of the job
The post-holder will manage and deal with a wide range of health needsin a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for allregistered and temporary patients.

Our medical team is currently made up of 2 Partners, 1 Salaried GP, 1Senior Clinical Pharmacist, 1 ANP, 1 GP Registrar and 1 prescribing PracticeNurse. We are supported by PCN Pharmacists, GPs, Mental Health Nurses,Physiotherapists, SPLW and Care-Coordinators. We hold monthly practicemeetings, partners meetings, Vulnerable Adult, Safeguarding and GSF Meetings.We are passionate and proud to be a Training practice and would welcomeapplications from GP trainers.
Job responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities:
In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holderwill make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties includingsurgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patientsat home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries,paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presentingproblems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workerswithin the organisation.
Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated andundiagnosed problems Screening patients for disease risk factors and earlysigns of illness.
In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice diseasemanagement protocols, developing care plans for health.
Providing counselling and health education.
Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referringto other care providers as appropriate.
Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreedstandards Collecting data for audit purposes.
Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions(avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible).
Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (orgenerically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.
In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normalduties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
Other Responsibilities within the Organisation:
Awareness of and compliance with all relevant Practicepolicies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, healthand safety.
A commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-basedbest practice.
Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting withinthe organisation.
Contributing to the development of computer-based patient records.
Attending training and events organised by the Practice or otheragencies, where appropriate.
Contribution to the implementation of services:
Apply practice policies, standards and guidance.
Discuss with other members of the team how the policies, standards andguidelines will affect own work.
Participate in audit where appropriate.
Work alongside the practice team.
Work alongside and with external providers including care home staff,district nurses and hospital teams.
Contribution to usual GP workload
Complete a share of Urgent Care surgeries shared pro rata between allour GPs.
Complete a pro rata share of paperwork (after full clinical documentmanagement has been completed by our administration team).
Routine surgery allocation of patients.
Take responsibility for a pro rata share of all other practiceresponsibilities.
Personal/Professional Development:
In addition to maintaining continued education through attendance at anycourses and/or study days necessary to ensure that professional developmentrequirements are met, the post-holder will participate in any trainingprogramme implemented by the Practice as part of this employment, such trainingto include:
Participation in an annual individual performance review, includingtaking responsibility for maintaining a record of own personal and/orprofessional development.
Taking responsibility for own development, learning and performance.
Demonstrating skills and activities to others who are undertakingsimilar work.
Person Specification
* Fully Registered and Qualified with the General Medical Council
* Full UK driving licence
* Strong EMIS knowledge
* Strong Docman knowledge
* Experience within a GP triage session
